I ate here with friends on the 6th of May. The Restaurant is in a wonderful location, over looking the city. The staff are incredible and very inviting. The food is of course quite delicious, as expected from an establishment that is more than 100 years old. I especially enjoyed the starters, the Calamari was done perfectly. The batter was neither too thick nor soggy, and the calamari was cooked perfectly. I absolutely love Buñuelos, and these were done exceptionally well. The outside was crispy, and the inside was a smooth batter with a delicious cod flavour. The oxtail was also cooked very very well, and my friend enjoyed it thoroughly. The longline Hake was a bit disappointing, because the sauce was a simple mayonnaise, and I don’t see Hake as a batter and fry kind of fish. It dried up rather uncomfortably during the course of the meal, and was the only thing I didn’t enjoy. The Crema Catalana was a fantastic close to the meal. All in all, it was a wonderful meal surrounded by wonderful people. I certainly would visit again.

Loved the atmosphere of the place. Staff was kind and the food was amazing, great taste and execution (only the potatoes were a little bit odd since they were mostly crisps, but good nonetheless).

Oof oh so fancy. What went for dinner with colleagues and it was quite nice! I really loved the cuttlefish dish I got! I like that all the dishes are small and light. Though, we probably ordered a lot and I was very full after! All these dishes was recommended and selected by the local.. The sea urchin dish was the most interesting dish - to me I didn't taste much of the urchin.. it was very rich and creamy... The tinto verano was the highlight! the eggplant with honey was excellent! Environment Located on the top of the hill, or so it seems. It was quite the hike up. There is quite some parking available. The seating was great! I loved that it was like a house converted. We sit in the outside but it was enclosed. Very nice homey and garden like terrace seating. Niceness of the staff Very attentive and nice staff. Dollar It was on the expensive end I'd say. I didn't pay.. company cover Yes/No? Sure why not. Not sure i'd recommend someone to go out there way just for this though

La Venta stands as a timeless culinary gem perched on the hills of Barcelona, offering not only a stunning view over the city but also a dining experience steeped in over a century of tradition. Nestled in the Sarria-Sant Gervasi district, this establishment harmonizes history with a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes each visit memorable.

What immediately captures attention at La Venta is its remarkable attention to detail — from the attentive, friendly staff to the thoughtfully crafted menu showcasing local flavors with a refined touch. The ambiance itself feels like dining in a beautifully converted home, with a garden-like terrace that lends a cozy, intimate setting perfect for both gatherings and quiet meals.

The culinary offerings here are a delightful exploration of classic Catalan fare, executed with care and finesse. Starters like the calamari exemplify this mastery: perfectly cooked, the batter strikes an ideal balance — crisp but light, enveloping tender squid without heaviness. Equally impressive are the buñuelos, which deliver a crisp exterior paired with a smooth, cod-infused interior, echoing the region’s seafood heritage with elegance.

For main courses, the oxtail emerges as a standout, slow-cooked to tenderness that invites savoring every bite. While some dishes, such as the longline hake, might miss the mark for certain palates by opting for a simpler mayonnaise sauce and presenting a drier texture, they nevertheless reflect the restaurant’s intent to marry traditional ingredients with subtle contemporary twists.

Seafood lovers will appreciate La Venta’s adventurous spirit, exemplified by dishes like the cuttlefish and a rich, creamy sea urchin preparation that intrigues with its depth and texture. The portions tend toward the smaller, lighter side, encouraging a leisurely meal filled with shared plates and varied flavors.

Nothing caps off the meal quite like their Crema Catalana—a classic Catalan dessert delivering a silky smooth custard beneath a perfectly caramelized crust, a fitting finale that lingers pleasantly.

La Venta’s blend of historic charm, refined Catalan cuisine, and breathtaking views create a dining experience that is both authentic and elevated. It is a place for those who appreciate the art of traditional cooking served with genuine hospitality and a scenic backdrop, inviting you to return time and again to rediscover its flavors.
